Summary

This is a multitalented individual with a highly technical aptitude and willingness to travel and relocate. Presenting to one-on-one and to groups fewer than 50 has proven confidence and an ability to explain comprehensively in both speaking and writing. Converting a vehicle to electric drive is proving ingenuity and skill flexability. The long term objective is to join a team in the electric drive industry and help change society's dependence on oil.
The current objective is to pursue a career that allows me to utilize my education and work experience that would be challenging, have an opportunity to apply new technology requiring a mix of skills, involves on-going learning, and opportunities  for advancement.

  • A Bachelor of Arts Combined Honours degree with Multimedia and Japanese Studies in the faculty of humanities.
  • Learned and applied skills in MS Office, Adobe Suite (photo, vector, video, web editing and design), basic programming, group presentation, team building and more.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and technological awareness is proven in a independently-built Virtual Reality system thesis project viewable here. This successful project required a mix of web design, programming, project management, electronics and mechanical engineering skills.

  • This academic year was spent as an exchange student, representing McMaster University to study abroad. Enrolled in International Division intended for foreigners to study Japanese language and culture while immersed.

  • fundamentals of electronic circuit design and troubleshooting were covered in-depth. Learned to use high tech tools such as an oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, function generator and more.

Primary Employment Experience

Self guided electric passenger vehicle researcher and consultant

August 2008 - Present
  • Converted a 1989 Ford Ranger to electric power in order to learn how to build and personally use electric vehicles first hand.
  • Successfully mated electric motor to transmission using extreme ingenuity and minimal tools. Taught self to weld in order to create safe battery restraints.
  • Actively researching present and future EV industry directions and technologies such as main stream batteries and EEStor’s capacitors.
  • Worked with Electric Mobility Canada as an IT consultant and news letter formatting/publishing assistant. Also volunteered at their December 2008 AGM.
  • Actively involved in the Electric Vehicle Society of Canada as a representative to educate the public in events such as the Toronto Auto Show and Green Living show.

    Position: Casual/Temp - Digital interface specialist
  • The Human Motion Research Lab in the School of Rehabilitation Science required a consultant with special skills in human-computer-interfaces for a specific
    research project.
  • The project was an interface that allowed a joystick to be perturbed and data recorded while keeping children engaged in repetitive motions. This was completed successfully, on-time, and under budget.

  • Being a confident and enthusiastic leader resulted in a re-hire for second term.
  • While working with the course instructor, the T. A. is responsible for grading projects, planning, organizing, and running tutorials in the computer lab.

  • Earned an Advanced PADI Certified open water SCUBA licence with a wreck diver specialty while living/traveling in Australia in 2002-2003
  • Member of McMaster University's Dragon Boat team. Earned a silver medal at the 2008 Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival, and a gold medal at Woodstock’s festival.
  • Hobbies include photography, playing acoustic guitar, D-I-Y projects and weekly floor hockey.
